So Death Note is definitely a top 5 anime for me. It's one of the first ones that I watched and between my husband and myself, we've collected all the manga, dvds, movie, some merch, etc. But no figures....

So recently I picked up Griffon's Figutto Light Yagami figure and I love it. I mean, it's not as good as my figma, but it's pretty nice. The accessories are good, paint and sculpt are okay, expressions are too similar, and the joints (or my joints anyway) were overly stiff probably from being stored a long time. BUT, it's an articulated Light around the scale that I like. (I collect mostly Figma, SH Figuarts, Revoltech, etc). I eventually plan to pick up the Ryuuk from the same line, but he's pretty expensive.

But, the thing is I really want a figure of L. Particularly I'd love an articulated L around the scale I collect, but as far as I know there are not any. So I started looking at some of the trading figures listed on MFC. A lot of the comments and pictures seem to indicate poor quality, but it's hard to tell since of course it is a trading figure and the quality varies so much on those (as to be expected for the price).

So I've been thinking of making my own articulated Figma sized L figure. I just got in a new batch of resin and silicone mold. The body/clothes won't be difficult, but that hair and the face.. I'll want to get that right. For the faces I think I'll try and find a similar shaped face and make my own resin copies and then use waterslide decals for the faces. But the hair is much more difficult.

I'm actually thinking of coping and editing Mikasa's special wind blown hair for a base (at least the front, not sure about the back).

On a slightly different note, if you haven't heard NateWantsToBattle's Death Note Parody "Blank Page" (a parody of Taylor Swift's Blank Space). It's pretty awesome:

So if you have any recommendations on a 1/12 ish scale of L, let me know (mostly likely it'd be a small prize figure or a large trading figure). Or recommendations on more or less kit bashing an L (though I don't mind minor edits/sculpting I'm just not that good at it).

I actually have a long list of customs that I want to do this summer, though I'll probably only get to a few of them. These are some of my top choices:

Klein (SAO)
Lisbeth (SAO)
Wo Class (Kancolle)
Re Class (Kancolle)
Airfield Princess (Kancolle)
Jean (SnK)
Yato (Noragami)
L (Death Note)
Misa Misa (Death Note)
Petra (SnK)

I think with more practice, I'll get the resin down. What kind do you use? I've been using the Smooth on brand for both the resin and mold.

I was going to be modifying the body of Inia Sestina and the hair from Eren. I'm not so sure about that hair anymore though. I'll use it for now (since it's on its way already) and see if I find something better.

Smooth on as well. Haven't gotten started yet, but I'll be doing face plates for sure and now want to use if for a hair piece as well.

I have Itoshiki Nozomu and wanted to use his hair for Nagisa Kaworu, but I'll have to do some mods to it to make it look more like his hair. I still want to keep my Nozomu though, so this way I don't have to buy a whole other nendoroid just for the hair piece.

FatalReticence5 anos atrás#2909583Sorry I don't really know anything about making customs so I can't help much, but if I come across any figures that look like they would be good for parts I'll let you know. I think Mikasa's hair could work for him though. I'd love to see the Jean and Petra ones if you decide to make them. Can't get enough SnK :) I eventually want to attempt making my own custom one day but it won't be any time soon.
I checked out the parody, it was pretty good lol.

Thanks!

I've made a couple of customs before so I'm not totally new to it, but I still have quite a lot to learn. My other custom SnK Figmas were easy since there was already a Sasha and Hange head on another figure that was the right size. I have some ideas about how I'm going to do Jean. Petra is the one I'm more concerned about. I've been wanting to make her for a while, but she's so much smaller than Mikasa that I don't think it'll look right to just use her body. I was hoping they would release a smaller female like Annie or Krista because that would make doing more customs easier and I also wish there was a larger male like Reiner or Erwin so I could get those right also.

Ose_935 anos atrás#2909830It sounds like you have the materials you need to make your custom figure. I'm actually doing this myself for Shinji Ikari since he doesn't have a nendoroid. You may not need this since you may already be familiar with customizations, but I found a really useful youtube channel about GK building. She has videos about modding kits, which have helpful tips for modding any figure. She's also doing a back to the basics section (on hold because she's moving) and I'm waiting for that since I am a total noob and want to do this customization right: www.youtube.com...
I've been thinking about using silicone molds to make resin faceplates as well (and I've been looking at a few tutorials about how to do those). But I didn't think about copying the hair and body, I just waited for someone to sell cheap nendoroids with hair pieces and bodies that I could modify. That's a nice idea though!
Good luck with your L! And thanks for sharing the video, it was wonderful XD
