Dark Dragoon Forte - She's Massive!Dark Dragoon Forte - She's Massive!

Today we are going to have a look at the latest addition to my collection. She came home yesterday, and instantly took a commanding position in my collection due to her massive size for a 1/8th. She's also very beautiful and chock full of details. Let us revel in some Dark Dragoon Forte goodness!

Dark Dragoon Forte ITEM #330778

A few months ago, I had picked up Vania ITEM #287820, and I've been very impressed with her. She definitely put Shingeki no Bahamut figures on my radar. I've also been looking for more figures to pick up for a while. My pre-orders are running low, and I've been having trouble finding any that I find appealing. So as I do, I went to YouTube, and started looking for more reviews and unboxings. I saw a couple for Forte (one I had seen a while ago), and she just stuck in my mind. So I started looking her up. I found her at a few places, but I wound up picking her up from Big Bad Toy Store.

From the reviews, I knew what to expect, and just how wide she would be once the spears were attached. Let me tell you though, until you get her set up and in your hands, it's hard to tell just how large and imposing she is. It's a GREAT thing! Well, assuming you have the space for her.

Forte is manufactured by Kotobukiya, and I must say, she is Koto-quality. The sculpt and accessories of her are top notch. She looks absolutely stunning, and I really like all the detail they put into her. From a slight distance, she looks perfect. However, as I am finding is typical with Koto, when you get up close, some of the paint on the finer details just does not look as crisp and clean as it could be. I think she is definitely worth the price, but a little bit more effort could have elevated her to a 10.

One thing I noticed when I was opening her is on her black spear/lance, there are "wrinkles" in the finish.

I was confused as to whether this was intentional or a flaw. Since these are battle weapons, I can see how this effect could indicate they have been through a number of battles and took some damage. I mean, it does look like metal that has been beat up and hammered back into place. However, the white one does not exhibit the same effect, so I'm still left wondering. Looking at the official pictures, it does look like it was intentional, as the same thing appears there.

Her red cape really brings a splash of color to her. It really accentuates her dress. The dress itself is actually a very deep purple, something that is not normally noticeable unless you are looking at her in a very well lit area.

All in all, I am really pleased with Forte. She is absolutely massive, even without her spears. She fits right in with several of my 1/7th and 1/6th figures. While her style is slightly different from the majority of my collection, there are several shelves that she fits right in with. It would be nice if the spears were able to be removed from her hands or were angled differently to save some space, but she would not look any where near as impressive without them. I highly recommend her, and I suspect more Rage of Bahamut figures will be finding their way into my collection in the years to come.

murialita (3 anos atrás) #14334975I did some quick, rough measurements:
Height(shelf to tip of horn): 9.75inches, 25cm
Width (tip of spear to tip of spear): 17.5inches, 44cm
Depth (back of hair to front of base: 7 inches, 18cm

Oh good lawdy she's long! Also planning to partner her with my incoming olivia...Turns out that they'll occupy a almost 40 inches space. Gotta think more carefully from now on.

Thanks for the measurements!

Edit: I wish koto will make male characters from the same title. That would be so cool...

murialita (3 anos atrás) #14334980It takes a lot of practice to be able to talk on these videos. If you look at my earlier vids, there is quite a difference. Believe me when I say I am very much an introvert, and have lots of problems talking to people (especially people I don't know). One nice thing about these videos is I am basically talking to myself since there's no one in the house.
If you want to make videos, go right ahead! You don't *need* to talk during them. You can just do reviews with subtitles and music, or record the audio separately. If it doesn't turn out how you'd like, you don't need to upload it.

Hmmn, that's a good way to look at it, I'll try again with that mentality when I'm home alone.
And thank you for the tips, I'll definitely give it a go now, what do I have to lose :)

HappyHikikomori (3 anos atrás) #14334976I so envy your ability to speak openly on video. I'd love to make videos, I just can't get over that one hurdle -_-
Anyways, I enjoyed watching the video. This is the first I've seen of Forte, she's quite nice :)
