Making your own figures?

yurirainbowzyurirainbowz22 dias atrásAsk MFC
So I just got some Super Sculpey and Super Sculpey Firm. I've never sculpted before, but I wanna try to start sculpting my own figures sometime. I'm just a little confused about the baking part..I don't want all my hard work to be ruined.

I know the package says x amount of time per 1/4 inch or something like that, but how do you really go about determining it? Do you measure it by depth? Length? Width? Plus some parts are smaller/thicker/etc than others, especially considering armature. Maybe its really simple but it has me worried.

Anyone with experience and help is greatly appreciated.

I have worked with super sculpey before. The measurements that they give you for baking are a good guideline, but you can always leave your sculpture in longer without any real problems. Do be careful about small details, though. They break VERY easily, especially if there is too much pressure on it or it weighs too much. Since Super Sculpey is very flexible and bendable before it is baked it also tends to droop a bit when you bake it if the weight of a piece is too heavy. Make sure to prop your sculpture or parts of it up in some way, since a leaning figure (laying on a hair piece for example) inside your oven causes tension, which means that after you take it out of the oven to cool down some parts could snap off very easily.
