I know it doesn't sound convincing but I don't come here to troll or tell lies. Never did, never will.
I really like HLJ as well for their private warehouse, and they have an excellent customer service. They sent me a new figure when I told them the kneepad fell off, which would've been easy to fix with some glue. All they asked is that I return the original figure, which I did of course. Kinda scared of using them nowadays because I heard they started autocharging for orders.

I just go to PayPal and cancel the automatic billing agreement after I order with them. Then I get the payment e-mail the same as before.

Retailers get wholesale price, not MSRP price. There's a fixed wholesale price for all retailers and depending on the volume they sell they get better discounts from the distributor and even when they give an orientative MSRP (That's why it's manufacturer SUGGESTED retail price), the retailer decides whether they put it expensier or cheaper. That's how it works at my place and probably everywhere else.

Karumi (1 mês atrás) #38707903So you saw it happen for one item and are using that to make a blanket statement about the entire website? I do wonder why your comment disappeared.
I mean exactly what I said. Which website has the best deal varies by item. However, depending on that website's shipping options, even if they have the lowest price for the item, the shipping may make it more expensive than another site depending on where a person lives.
On the contrary, HLJ is my favorite site to order from. Not a fan of AmiAmi's shipping rates, although I do end up ordering a lot from them anyway because their selection is larger than HLJ's.

Snipped since Jenthehen explained it. View spoilerHide spoilerThey buy at a much cheaper price by buying in bulk.
Therefore they can give you a cheaper price than msrp.
Basically imagine a manufacturer has an expenditure of 6k per figure, and wants to sell it for 10k jpy.
Amiami purchases 500 figures at 8k each, thus providing a profit to the manufacturer and also obtaining it cheaper. They then sell it for about 9k to you. That way everyone is satisfied, the manufacturer, the 3rd party seller (amiami), and the consumer.

This is just a basic summary, hope it was helpful.

I'll have to clear some things up, you might have misunderstood me.
    I will be very specific.
What I'm talking about exactly is:
there are two sites, the international and the japanese one.
both sites listed the same item, for the same price.
the japanese one didn't have any discount and listed it as 8500.
the international one had the 25%off discount marker and listed it for the same price, 8500.
I can't dig up the exact comparison because it happened ages ago, and judging by your comment you wouldn't even care, let alone believe me anyway.
fyi I think it was this one, unfortunately they don't list the price and whatnot anymore.:
    www.amiami.jp/t...
    www.amiami.com/...
it might have been a honest mistake on their part but it's misleading all the same.
I don't get what you mean by the second part of your comment. you're either trying to be super factual for the sake of disproving me even further, or agreed with me needlessly.
    www.amiami.com/...
    www.1999.co.jp/...
    hlj.com/product...
as you can see they cost about the same, discount or not, there's not much difference.
    lastly:
I'm sorry if I upset you or anyone else, I'm not trying to bully your favorite webshop here at all. What I said is you can disregard amiami's discount indicator and shop normally.

I think they mean that diff stores have diff promos that will result in the item varying in prices. For example, TOM with their 30% discounts and generous points system, Hobbysearch having their sales, etc. Actually, in contrast, amiami rarely ever has any discount sales. lol.

Karumi (1 mês atrás) #38676449It would be 25% off the MSRP price, including tax, so no, it's not a lie. Besides, they don't even use % off anymore. The MSRP price + tax is there in grey with a strike-through and their price is in orange. Please link me an item on their site where the discount is a lie.
And no, their items are not the same price as other stores. Every store offers different discounts. Sometimes AmiAmi is cheaper, sometimes another store is. Varies by item and your location (as some people have to pay VAT and such so AmiAmi in the end would probably be more expensive for them than other options).
