materix01 (1 mês atrás) #39499285Opps. I should have realised that the Zaku was a MG 2.0. Kshatriya is such a beast and I'm hoping Bandai will make a 1/100 version (probably for the RE100 line at some point). I held off on buying a Zaku MG 2.0 for a few years because I was hoping they would make a 3.0 like they did with the RX-78-2 but finally caved last month and purchased ITEM #609995 which I've yet to build. Heard the Zaku 2.0 are still one of the best MG kits.
I'm more of a snap builder myself and don't use my airbrush as much as others. I probably end up fully painting <20% of my kits. Most of my kits I buy with the intention of snap building and top coating with minor detailing.
My MVP tool are my Sharpie metallic markers in gold/silver/bronze. I do so much detail work with those, from the gold on SD kits to inner frame detailing on MGs. Way better than any paint marker I've used. Panel line then top coat and gunpla kits look great! A can of silver spray paint for thrusters help. I wanna give hand painting a try with my SD kits as I find masking very time consuming.

Yeah, i also mainly snap build with some minor detailing, i also try to avoid stickers where possible for colour apps(some exceptions like the SD stargazer golden bits)

Good luck with the 2.0 zaku. For the infamous finger-killer tubes that the zakus have, my strategy was to cut the runner thing they were on in order to remove them easily.

Ryujin76 (1 mês atrás) #39498588Thanks, the black tristars zaku is actually the 2.0 MG, it's just that the kshatriya is a monster of a HG. Most of the detailing is done using gundam markers cause i'm too cheap to get an airbrush.
The whites on all my kits are handpainted using cheap acrylic paint i had around the house, not that clean if you get close but it does the job. I'll look into the other panel lining options you mentioned.

materix01 (1 mês atrás) #39496802Oh a fellow gunpla collector. Good to see some representation.
That Black Tristars Zaku from Origin looks fantastic! The origins line is arguably the best 1/144 line made by Bandai thus far although I'm a big fan of the IBO line as well.
I can see that you're using metallic green gundam marker on some of the SD kits and perhaps metallic sharpie for some of the detailing? What did you use for the white sleeves on the Kshatriya? It looks pretty clean.
I think some more panel lining would make your kits even better. I use to use a super fine tipped copic marker which does get the job done well. But 2 bottles of Tamiya Panel accent in black and grey and lighter fluid from my local hardware store has made panel lining super easy and quick for <$20.

Ryujin76 (1 mês atrás) #39470899Thanks. All the gsc monogatari figures are so gorgeous, i love that the bases are just about as detailed as the figures themselves.
Yup, not one of them disappoints, except perhaps for Hitagi.
Not that GSC's (ITEM #27598) is bad, it's just that (IMHO) Alter's (ITEM #42025) is better.
