Hey, fellow mfc-members and welcome
to another review!

Picture-heaviness and nitpicking ahead (you have been warned)! ( *’ω’* )

This time I’ll be reviewing ITEM #501857 Alter’s depiction of Ichinose Shiki’s Perfume Tripper version. Shiki is a character from iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, which I actually know nothing about (other than that it is some sort of idol stuff). Seeing how I can barely avoid the hellhole called “idol merch” it’s probably better this way, though as you can see “avoiding” it isn’t as easy as it sounds. This is one of those figures I fell instantly in love with after I actually took the time to take a closer look at her. I kind of bypassed her a few times while browsing, but never really paid any attention since “meh... idol-stuff”. On my birthday last month I finally cracked took a look and then… well, I begged my friends to dissuade me from buying her… they couldn’t…

~◦*◦✾◦˚°˖*゚✲*❁*✲゚*˖°˚◦✾◦*◦~
Anyway, since I can’t tell you anything about the series or character let’s just start with some actual reviewing. Alter went with a mostly white box adorned by ornate decorations in varying shades of pink. The right and left side turn this around by having white decorations on a pink background. Thick cardboard makes the box very sturdy and the mainly smaller windows add to that impression. Interestingly those windows, that can be found on the front, sides and top of the box, are shaped like open books which fits the figure’s theme quite nicely. Only the back shows a picture of the figure (also book shaped) surrounded by formulas and symbols. The bottom features the usual information and authenticity sticker.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209815.jpeg
Due to the sitting position both the box and the blister are rather huge and do their job.

~◦*◦✾◦˚°˖*゚✲*❁*✲゚*˖°˚◦✾◦*◦~
Fresh out of the box we’re left with 7 parts: Figure, base, chair, detachable arm rest, chest, flask, book and a well-needed instruction sheet View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209830.jpeg.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209823.jpeg

~◦*◦✾◦˚°˖*゚✲*❁*✲゚*˖°˚◦✾◦*◦~
The base is a warmly colored disk with painted littered book pages on it. Certainly, a nicer design than usual, but actually sculpted pages would’ve made the impression more lifelike, since it seems a bit flat and washed out despite the effort.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209835.jpeg
The lack of pegs for attaching parts like the chair and box aren’t really something I’m fond of either. Sure, it allows for more freedom to move the figure around, but is that really necessary? I’d prefer some stability over it tbh.

~◦*◦✾◦˚°˖*゚✲*❁*✲゚*˖°˚◦✾◦*◦~
Before starting the actual assembly let’s look at some of the parts individually. Beginning with the chair (the arm rest should usually be attached after seating the figure on it), which does give off a rather old-fashioned vibe with the carvings on the arms and leg or the gold ornaments. Those are sculpted and painted in immaculate detail (the gold decorations even feature varying shades of gold). The upholstery seems a little bland in comparison to the furbished wooden(-looking) parts, yet the seat has enough shading and dents to look quite comfortable.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209868.jpeg
When assembled the cloak doesn’t fully rest on arm rests as you can see, although this also allows for the figure to be wiggled out of the chair (the cloak is flexible enough) without anything breaking (do exert caution if you try it though).

Painted in a bright pink the chest is not only an eyecatcher, but also useful as jewel case (or whatever you want to put into it) since it can be opened. The spots where the wood chips are splintered off the chest give the whole thing a very wood-and life-like look, just as the gold colored metal fittings do. And the star-shaped keyhole makes the whole thing look really cute.

Anyway, here’s the full overview…

I seriously love Shiki’s face, she looks adorable yet a bit mischievous and cat-like with her mouth and the big blue eyes. The slight blush adds and extra-level of cuteness.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209930.jpeg
Her front hair, while looking fairly good, could be a bit crisper and cleaner in the sculpting department, like the stray strands being sculpted separately (or in more depth at least).

The rest of Shiki’s hair, especially at the back of her head, look way better, although parts ‘suffer’ from the same little problems as the front hair. For the most part however, you notice the soft and glossy (not too much mind you) look of it and the subtle yet effective shading. What irks me instead are the ribbons her hair is tied with, they lack detail and seem almost cartoonish and what are those golden parts supposed to be anyway? They look weird lumps (maybe I’m just ignorant though).
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209937.jpeghttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209943.jpeghttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209950.jpeg

~◦*◦✾◦˚°˖*゚✲*❁*✲゚*˖°˚◦✾◦*◦~
On to the body and clothing starting with the… errr… obvious her chest. Shiki is pretty well-endowed and the top’s lines support that impression. Additionally, there are leather girths pressing her breast together from the sides creating that magnificent cleavage.
The cloak is also very notable not only because of the folds, creases and layers but also due to the symbols/inscriptions at its rim and the eye-catching golden clasp. I already mentioned how the cloak doesn’t fully rest on the arm rests and tbh this is quite visible once you look just a bit closer, depending on the display angle it can be hidden though.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209955.jpeghttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209964.jpeg

Now to her, I dunno… is it an underbust corset? At least it looks like one to me. The white is again adorned by those symbols matching the overall look and the whole thing is fastened by gold-colored lacing. That one seems a tad bit undefined and messy and if you look really close the “messy” part applies to the belts as well. The paint on the buckles in particular looks sloppy, the flacons and overall sculpting look great though (from any normal distance). Shiki’s skirts(?) continue the trend of anything fabric-like looking great both in paint and sculpt (like those creases).
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209972.jpeghttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209979.jpeghttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209987.jpeg

This also applies to the wide and layered sleeves as well. Again, you can find the symbol/inscription-like decoration.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539209993.jpeg

Shiki has long, slender fingers hidden by white gloves, which are in no way inferior to the rest of her clothing. Both the book and flask in her hands are very detailed as well. The flask looks like it was just waved around with its clear pink liquid and the heart-shaped top adds cuteness to it. The book is another real highlight as the level of detail is remarkable. The gold decorations are immaculate as are the bookmarks and ribbon. Even the pages are sculpted and have writing on them. The only real drawbacks are the surefire paint transfers you’ll get on Shiki’s gloves. :/
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210000.jpeghttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210012.jpeg

Now onto those gorgeous legs. Shiki’s inner thighs are particularly well-sculpted and the way the (again inscribed) stockings dig softly into her flesh looks great.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210019.jpeghttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210025.jpeghttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210030.jpeg

Obligatory NSFW-pictures…

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210044.jpeg

The boots complement the impression very well. From the folded brim to the ribbon, the lacing and grommets and all the way down to the pink soles they look terrific. The boots are subtly glossy and seem well-kept, while the folds and shading add a life-like touch to them. Going really closely however you can see that the paintjob isn’t perfectly done, but who displays figures like that?
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210051.jpeg

~◦*◦✾◦˚°˖*゚✲*❁*✲゚*˖°˚◦✾◦*◦~
Lastly for some size comparisons, I didn’t measure Shiki this time, because of her pose so let’s just put some figures next to her to get an impression. X3

ITEM #61401 kinda fits her theme as she is an Alchemist, but she is visibly smaller (well she should since she is a 1/8 scale). Despite Shiki sitting down both her body volume and face are significantly bigger.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210056.jpeg

Queen of Hearts seems really big for being a 1/8 scale and doesn’t look to out of place (well, the color-scheme doesn’t exactly fit…). Her and Shiki’s legs are similar in length and their bodies seem generally close in size and volume, but the faces still differ in that regard.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210061.jpeg

Another 1/8 figure ITEM #78406... Shinobu actually doesn’t look too bad next to Shiki, sure she is still somewhat smaller, but that can easily be excused with her more child-like appearance.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210066.jpeg

When looking at 1/7 scales like ITEM #287683 we see that she fits well in size (maybe not in style though).
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210076.jpeg

Scáthach ITEM #464672 looks like she and Shiki could be of the same height standing, although Shishou is a bit bigger than your usual female character.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210081.jpeg

More NSFW~ness…
View spoilerHide spoilerNative's Alice ITEM #236217 is also in a kind of sitting position, being 1/7 she fits Shiki’s size quite well.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210086.jpeg

Well, as I said I didn’t measure Shiki, but she looks like a normal 1/7 scale (maybe even slightly on the big side). Displaying her with other 1/7 definitely works an depending on the figure 1/8 might not look odd either. Yet with all the details and stuff going on Shiki makes for a good standalone piece as well.
https://static.myfigurecollection.net/image/broken-Toybox1539210098.jpeg

~◦*◦✾◦˚°˖*゚✲*❁*✲゚*˖°˚◦✾◦*◦~
Conclusion
I'm really nitpicky about this one, since Shiki's price is really high (sasuga Alter), yet there are smaller errors and blemishes I wouldn't have expected, certainly not with that price-tag and not from Alter. Most of the details still look good however and the majority of my complaints are kinda neglectable. The overall impression of the figure is what I fell in love with and that sure didn't change. I really like the vibrant colors, the subtly sexy, mischievous and maybe even adventurous vibe (it's the outfit I guess x3) and I don't consider a single cent ill-spent on this beautiful figure.

That's it for this review! Thanks for reading, I hope you liked it! ^^
Well, I can't help it if you didn't after all unless you give constructive criticism.
Speaking of criticism, I'd be really happy about that. :3
Ofc, as usual, any thoughts on the figures are very welcome too! ^^

Well, yeah, from me to myself. x3
Ok, if you're happy with it (for some reason) that's fine. x3 I've been eyeing Tinker Bell's Nendo too, but in the end I don't like her as a character, but glad you're happy with her. :3
Thank you! My next loot post is coming up too (another opportunity to spam pictures x3), just need to get over my laziness with that one. ^^"

Well, I do like to write reviews from time to time, so you'll probably stumble upon those occasionally. x3
I love her to, really the perfect figure to get on my birthday! Don’t be jealous though, everyone collects at their own pace and there are a lot of beautiful figures out there. :3

azaziel666 (9 dias atrás) #41710732Nice review. I also have her as well.
But there seems to be some inconsistencies for mine. On the inner thighs of Shiki, does it feel a bit rough? I know Alter spray or does something to the skin of the figures to make feel real smooth. For the top part of the inner thighs of my Shiki, its not as smooth as the other parts of her legs.
I am wondering if this only applies to my Shiki.
Thank you! ^^
I just checked that on mine and while the inner thighs are fine there's a line on the top of her left leg that feels a bit rougher as well. It's not terrible since that's not visible at least, but I hope they have the usual QC for their other figures and don't make this the norm (and not just because I have some others preordered). :/

Jaynne (10 dias atrás) #41687192Nice review.
I have always wanted to buy her, but she's a bit out of my budget at the moment. Quite surprised that Alter's quality seems to slip a bit for this figure... although she still looks nice overall.
Thanks for the review ^^
Thank you. :3
I totally get that, her price tag is... well...
That surprised me as well, not something I'm used to and hopefully not a new trend of theirs since tge quality is basically everything that 'justifies' Alter's price policy.
That being said this is still somewhat tolerable and I simply love this figure too much to feel bothered by it. :3

Solarstormflare (10 dias atrás) #41677109Ooo i'd never seen this fig before your review! She looks nice! although i too know very little about idols, i can totally emphasize with deciding to buy them anyway, haha.
Haha, just like me before that fateful day (yeah, I'm not exaggerating at all *cough*). I don't know too much about idols either (apart from having watched the first season of Love Live), but I have no qualms about getting figures just for their looks so it's fine.^^
Still that hellhole of idol figures is dangerous terrain and if you're not careful it'll suck your wallet dry! x3
