The Shelf Tour Vol.2
[Picture and text heavy + Some crappy photography]
(It has been a whole year since Vol.1, so why not?)

Hello MFC! It has been a while! I am two months away from my 4th Anniversary as a figure collector, which should be a happy occasion, but in my case not really. I have to be honest and say that lately being in this hobby has been a bit hard for me and not so much because of financial issues or anything like this, but because I do not like how lately it feels like every figure company has been trying to flat out exploit the collector community with the ridiculous pricing of some items, which is basically making me super angry, and this in turn is kind of stopping me from enjoying this hobby as much as I used to. I am not angry because I personally can't afford said items or anything, I have gotten pretty good at managing finances in regard to figures I most definitely want, it is just that... I am sure many of you will agree on this, but the feeling of being asked to pay more for something which is basically the same quality it has always been sucks! But I am a positive person and I try to stay positive so to get myself away from the angry thoughts and kind of remind myself of the things I like about figure collecting, why not reorganize? Plus I recently obtained my last figure Grail, so I thought to myself why not share with all of you my little collection tour.

Before we start, a little disclaimer. I have gotten a better camera recently, but my room has always been super dark so getting good pictures is always a bit of a challenge, so excuse my bad photography skills, beforehand. ^^'

So, four years! My collection has come a long way, I think. Despite all my current feelings about collecting I am super proud of my collection and I love every single of the figures in it. The collection is divided and displayed into two main display areas. The first one consisting of a collection of three Detolf cabinets, and the second of a bigger wooden display cabinet. Starting with the Detolf section.

Detolf number one, first shelf is my so called "ladies in long orange-ish dresses". This shelf houses the first of my grails - Belldandy and Holy Bell, followed by Holo in her wedding dress and the Harvest Moon Miku. I knew I want to display these ladies together as soon as I got them, because the shades of their dresses go very well together in person, plus all of them have this kind of serene feel about them, which instantly made them display buddies.

Under them is my "Badasses in black" shelf. Being the figures that got me into collecting to begin with, The Durarara!! trio are super dear to me and are always displayed together. Rin's uniform is technically a super dark shade of blue, not black but his pose and overall look kind of goes together with the Durarara team, so the moment I got him the four of them kind of became a set. And Koto's Lulu is kind of like the leader of the pack. Ready to "command" them into action if needed. XD

Next two shelves are kind of a "misc" area, since these figures have really no one to go with, yet. I am still waiting to either receive or buy the figures I plan on displaying them with. Gwendolyn and the Awaken Jiji, are kind of making each other company because they both have dark blue colors on them. The Tales of Zestiria duo are a bit lonely since I am yet to receive Edna and Alisha, but I will get the set together eventually.

The last shelf from this detolf is housing my lovely but super lonely Arsene scale. He is super big and kind of hard to display with any of my current scales, so I am still looking for a display buddy for him. I have Futaba ordered, I am also keeping an eye on a few Joker scales that are yet to release, so who knows. Until I get something good he is a lone wolf unfortunately.

Moving on to detolf number two, which is probably my most complete display in terms of shelves and figures. The top shelf is my "Purple/Metallic shelf". It houses the second of my Grails - Clare from Claymore, which is ironically the first Grail I managed to obtain, she is also the oldest figure I own and the one I thought will be the hardest to find. She is accompanied by Shiki, the G.E.M Suzaku/Lulu scale, the lovely Shadow Wing and the awesome Yue scale from Hobby Max. Originally I wanted to display Yue together with my CardCaptor Sakura figures, but since he is the only 1/8 scale, they just did not match all that well and I had to find him another spot and thankfully his color palette made him perfect for this shelf.

Following is my "Idol" shelf. I have named it like this because all the figures on it are either holding microphones or musical instruments or dancing in some way. Vocaloids are also considered idols in their own right. Originally I wanted to get all the other UtaPuri scales, but eventually gave up on the idea, since Shou is my most favorite character from the series and he goes perfectly well with the Idol Miku and IA Rocks scales, so I have always displayed them together and they became kind of an imaginary band of their own in my mind. Plus I don't see a point in buying figures of less loved characters only for displaying purposes. The Kagamine twins were moved around a lot, until I managed to fit all of them together and they are perfect I think.

Next is what I like to refer to as the "Seasonal Miku" shelf, which also happens to be one of my most favorite displays. I like how the three of them complement each other. Show Miku and Sakura Miku are self-explanatory. The 2017 Racing Miku from Amakuni with her teal colors reminds me of summer and also the color of sea water. My only regret about this shelf is that there is no Miku scale that reminds me of the season Autumn, so I can put her here. Yeah, I know Harvest Moon Miku can be associated with the season, but I just don't get the same vibes from her as from these three.

The last shelf from this detolf is my "Sports" shelf. It has my Free boys, accompanied by my Kuroko's Basket duo and my lovely price figure Echizen, all from which are cheered on by the little Cheerful Tachikoma. All the boys come from big franchises and lines that had much more figures and characters. Just like with the UtaPuri scales I was considering getting all the Free boys once they became available, but in the end decided not to. Again in favor of having only my favorite boys against all of them. Plus I love this shelf as is.

Last detolf, first shelf, housing my third and most recently purchased Grail - Alter's Aegis - is what I decided to call the "Futuristic" shelf. Aegis is a super high-tech robot, ONE and IA are often shown singing in space in many of their official music videos, and the 7th Dragon Miku is a mystical singer, according to the game. Yeap, super Futuristic. XD

Next shelf is my "Almost" Racing Miku shelf. It has some of my Racing Mikus, from which there are way too many. XD (Miku Addict here...) And I have the little Popura-chan bringing refreshments, since I imagine the majority of the racing tournaments are held during the summer. I plan on getting a few more waitress type figures, so until I find her better spot Popura is sitting here.

Again kind of "Misc" shelf. This shelf will hopefully soon become a D.Gray-man shelf. I am still waiting on my Allen Walker from Aniplex to arrive. Lavi and Kanda have been super lonely without him, but since the shelf looked empty with just the two of them I decided to put my Dacing Star Joker and Morgana to fill in the spot for Allen. I am super excited to complete the set of the three D.Gray-man characters, especially because when I started collecting I thought this show will never get decent scales made.

And lastly... The Natsume Yuujinchou shelf. Originally this shelf housed my three Natsume price figures from Banpresto, but I decided to move in Koto's Natsume and Madara figure here because it is way too heavy for the other shelves and it also kind of works against the white bottom of the detolf. The third Natsume price figure that used to sit here (ITEM #193308) is now next to my manga volumes.

The top of my detolfs is saved for part of my Kotobukiya figures. I keep them on top, because they are super sturdy plus they are easier to clean, than many of my other scales. Which also saves time on the dusting often part. Same as last time, from one side are my Kotobukya CardCaptor Sakura trio, which haven't really moved from there.
View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/15/2256587.png

On the other side are my limited editions of Kaneki and Edward. Originally I was considering to may be get Koto's Mustang figure as well, but after much consideration decided that his color palette does not really fit much with the rest of my collection, also since recently I ordered the new Cowboy Bebop scales from Max Factory, may be I will make myself a "Classic anime" shelf and Ed will be able to go there in the future.

To finish-off the detolf display area, here is the overview. I love how the lights form a linear shadow right in the middle. They look awesome during the night.

Moving on to the wooden display. Back when I started collecting, much before I was able to buy the detolfs, that was my only display area. It is a pretty old bookcase with glass doors. It is super sturdy and has a lot of space. If I want to I can fit a lot more figures, but I try to be careful, because it tends to look a bit overcrowded. Originally it had glass shelves with pretty rough ages, easy to cut yourself, so I had to change them with wooden ones, to make it safer for the figures. Now I tend to keep here the majority of the more heavy figures or figures that I can't group together in any other way.

Starting from the top:
View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/15/2256593.png
The top is kind of divided between two themes. We have my Kuroshitsuji scales form Kotobukiya, and on the other side the rest of my Racing Mikus, accompanied by the only real nendoroid I own - a 10th anniversary Miku, which was actually send to me by mistake instead of a 2016 Racing Miku scale. I got the Miku eventually, but the site I ordered her from refused to get the nendoroid back so I decided to keep it.
View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/15/2256600.pnghttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/15/2256601.png
Next shelf is what I like to call the "Kimono shelf". It has my Hanairogoromo Vocaloid set, as well Kusuriuri and Yuzuruha, and also Alter's renewal version of Natsume. I plan to eventually fill this shelf with solely kimono wearing figures, so Natsume will probably move eventually. And the nendoroid petits? Well... I thought to myself it will be funny to display the Hanairogoromo set next to the chibi versions of the same characters but wearing their original outfits. My only truly impulsive purchase ever and I have to say, I am actually finding the petits to be cuter than the actual nendoroid. XD

Moving to the last two shelves:
View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/15/2256594.png
First we have the "Touken Ranbu" shelf. I am crazy in love with TouRabu, but I am also super picky about not only my favorite characters but also about how they look, thus the reason I am not actually buying all the characters released so far. Also... faces... Faces are like the absolute must-like feature for me. Don't like the face, don't buy the figure! That said there will probably be more boys coming to the collection sooner or later, that's why I had to move them here, where I can actually fit all of them together.
View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://ic.pics.livejournal.com/plam_lists/21713071/351462/351462_800.png
Half of the last shelf is saved for my 7th Dragon girls. I am a crazy about Miwa Shirow and as such back when I started collecting I was determined to get all the 7th Dragon figures solely because they are based on his artwork. But, thankfully I have gotten way more picky and selective about what figures I want in my collection, so I gave up on "having all of them" and got only the ones I absolutely love, which means these four, at least for the moment. XD
View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/15/2256595.png
And last... We reached to the end... is actually my first ever purchased figure - Sentinel's Levi. Once upon a time I was set on having a Shingeki no Kyojin shelf, since I am absolutely in love with the series, but here I am four years later and still can't decide definitely which figures from the series I want. The set from Koto look promising, but they have gotten a bit hard to find over the years and I am not sure I want to put in the effort to hunt them if I am not 100% convinced I want them to begin with. May be I will make it just a Levi shelf at the end, who knows. For now the Asakura twins from Shaman King are keeping him company.
View spoilerHide spoilerhttps://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/07/15/2256596.png

And this is it! Four years of collecting (almost)! One of my best friends likes to remind me that back when I was first considering if I want to collect figures or not I was saying that may be I will get 10 to 15 figures tops. Now I am close to hundred. XD And while I tend to go for quality over quantity and characters I truly like, that is still a lot!

Anyway. Thanks for reading to whoever had the patience to reach the end! Hope you enjoyed the tour.
Have a lovely day/evening! ^^

Thank you all for the kind words! I am super happy that you like my collection and my displays! Thank you! ^^'

spinners_grove1 ano atrás#63769485I love your kimono shelf as well; I have one going myself and I was going to ask if you were planning on adding ITEM #617147 to it, but I might have done some creeping and saw she was on your PO list. I'm dead excited for her, honestly. I mean, I think she's absolutely stunning in her own right (and the song it's based on is a real banger), but I also think she's going to match the green in ITEM #246632 and nicely balance out an otherwise mostly pink/blue shelf.
I know! The Kasane Teto scale looks awesome, plus she is based on an artwork from the same author as the Hanairogoromo set, so she will be perfect there! Plus I think she would match with Yuzuruha quite nicely. I also plan to put on this shelf - ITEM #520698 and ITEM #676007 when I eventually get them. ^^

I think your seasonal Miku shelf is my favourite, I love the way all three of them compliment each other. Sakura Miku stands out slightly as she isn't in a dynamic diagonal pose, but she's a very adorable prize figure that looks just as beautiful as the two scales next to her. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to find an autumnal Miku to add to that shelf, as bright orange and similar autumn colours might throw off the balance you've already achieved. My second favourite shelf might be the idol one above the seasonal Mikus! Very nicely arranged and lots of fun colours there. Overall your collection is coming together very nicely, and I think you have a good eye for arranging figures within each detolf shelf to create a good flow and style :)

Yo, I am totally in love with your collection. I do thematic/color coordinated shelves as well and imho it's highly underrated. I think it creates a more "curated" look, which your arrangement has in spades. Especially with your use of risers, everything looks really cohesive and carefully thought-out, almost like each one is a bouquet of flowers. I can barely pick just one shelf to say that I like in particular--they're all so good. I guess the pre-D. Gray-man shelf is one of my favorites; you say that it's kind of a "misc" shelf but I think its red/black theme is wonderfully coherent. Excellent job fitting those three together, even if you're only thinking of it as a temporary thing. I also like your seasonal Miku shelf, since it not only has a nice pastel palette, but the Racing Miku and Snow Miku's poses (specifically arranged in that way) create an excellent sense of movement that draws your eye from the "top" of the shelf down to Sakura at the "bottom." Really, just fabulous.

Anyway, I could honestly gush more, but I'll leave it at that.

read your first shelf tour from before as well as this one and i have to say that i adore your displays in both! your collection looks so nice and everything seems to have its place to make a gorgeous composition when looked at altogether.

You've got the whole Hanairogoromo Vocaloid set! I'm so jealous :(
Nice display!

Very lovely collection and organization, the time spent curating it defiantly shows. Also I have to agree with the sentiment, love the face or don't buy it, for me it especially has to resemble the original style. Also for your arsene shelf you might consider the pop up parade prototype Joker, ITEM #740197, the shorter nonscale height may look proportional.

Damn four years? I have been collecting for 6 or so and have nowhere near enough figures but i do buy tons of art prints so my walls are pretty collected of them(and i collect other stuff too)

Great displays! I especially like the seasonal Miku shelf and the pairing of Joker and Lavi :) I always try to do similar things with my display and find figures that have synergy together, having a display like that is great and I'm always interested to see how other people set-up their displays so I really enjoy seeing one like yours ^^

Great collection. I love the way you arranged the figures with certain themes. There isn't a single figure that is out of place. :)
