AkibaMelon (2 meses atrás) #37971598Ah, I see! Thanks a lot for your explanation! I guess I'm gonna give it a go then ^^ My Detolf is mostly filled with 1/8s and some shelves are even plushes and keychains, so my chances are probably good for it to work out :D

That should be good! :D But keep on watching it carefully, IKEA is known for changing materials where their products are made of quite a lot!

CaptainZ (3 meses atrás) #37774501Yeah the Kallax I did not know the name.
I sure I have seen people use th 4X1's on MFC before but thanks for the heads up

Yeah I heard of other people using 4x1's as well, so I bought that one initially. Only shortly after installing I noticed bending in the wood, so I wanted to keep it safe and bought all 1x1's for my detolfs.

Funnily enough I am now using the 4x1 as TV stand and it's strong enough for that. :)

AkibaMelon (3 meses atrás) #37826330Sorry for invading the conversation ^^;; I randomly stumbled upon this discussion and thought I'd take advantage of the situation :D
I've been thinking about installing Kallax shelves under my Detolf for the longest time (since it seems very convenient and it's really popular on MFC) but I always wondered about the weight thing. On Ikea's website it says the 1x1 Kallax can hold up to 13kg but I literally have no clue how heavy a filled Detolf is. So may I ask: Is this 1x1 Kallax really a safe option from your experience? Thanks a lot and apologies again for the randomness :)

It's correct that 'officially' this set-up would not be recommended. However, I have had this set up for 1+ year and know of people on here having it for 3+ years without problems. With the earlier discussed 4x1 I noticed bending super fast, which gave me enough warning signs.

It does depend on what you put in the detolfs though! Most PVC figures are quite lightweight, but if you were to display 1/3-1/4 scale coldcast statues or other heavy things, I would not do this.

I earlier had the idea to also display some novels and Blu-Ray boxes in these detolfs matching with the figures inside such a shelf, but if I were to do that I would really limit the amount to keep the total weight of detolf + contents low.

Just keep an eye out on possible bending problems!

Maakie (3 meses atrás) #37768002As for the detolfs themselves, each Detolf is standing on it's own individual 1x1 Kallax. If you are also interested in putting your Detolfs on top of a Kallax, be sure to buy loose 1x1's, as the other types of sizes are not sturdy enough to keep the weight!

Maakie (3 meses atrás) #37768002Hi! Not sure if you mean what the detolfs are standing on or that you are asking about the silver things in the corner? The silver things in the corner are parts of a cosplay I was working on back then, that are drying in the same room, lol.
