A garage kit (ガレージキット guraajikitto) is a scale model kit usually cast in resin that requires assembly and painting by the purchasing collector. Garage kits were originally made by amateur fans and hobbyists, mostly sold at conventions similarly to doujin figures, but are now also sold by officially licensed manufacturers. Certain conventions will arrange for a 'single day license' to be applied to approved amateur kits sold for one day out of the event.
