LadyStarstorm (6 anos atrás) #1024767Totally. My Bleach shelf is the most guilty of this with all their shinigami robes, heh.

I'm very pleased that she's found a good home for sure.

LadyStarstorm (6 anos atrás) #1024745Just wanted to let you know, Matsumoto arrived last night! She looks great after a dusting, so thank you again for the fab deal~ :]

Thanks, Yeah her black outfit -which any figure with black always attracts dust around here, it's a constant thing I deal with-

I'm in the same boat, I spent most of this year playing catch up to complete various collections. I'm pretty much done catching up, but I have a large number of pre-orders through the rest of the year. That's a good list, I too am super excited for the DRRR!! figures. I have Izaya at home and Celty is on the way from AmiAmi as we speak! I hope they keep it going after Shizuo, as much as my wallet would sting if they do... oh, the Jaina Solo was put up for pre-order recently :)

Ah yes, the balancing act :) Well, my wife is understanding, but when the stacks of boxes arrive she kind of shakes her head like "Really? More?". Oh well, I do the same when her shoes and purses arrive ;) She's a good sport though. My big issue at the moment is space. We have a reasonably big place, but I don't have a very secure spot to appropriately display figures. Right now they're on the same shelves as my anime collection, hence me looking into more robust display cases. Plus I have a 4 month old boy and I certainly don't want valuables, especially cool looking "toys" out where he can break them once he's walking around. He already stares them down with great interest when he passes them.

The museum idea is spot on, that's what I want as well. Originally I wanted a study when we move into a larger place, but I've since re-calibrated my thinking and want a full blown imaginarium full of figures, statues, art, books, etc. No tv, just an explosion of creative and visually interesting items to soak in :)

LadyStarstorm (6 anos atrás) #1016507Nice! Yes, most of my stuff is pretty lightweight as well, with a few exceptions that already have display spots in my house :3

Hah, I guess my wishlist IS pretty big... XD A lot of it is more, completionist things, like some of the older figures, or things that I have always liked the look of but never gone out of my way to buy for one reason or another.

My current major wants that I'm actually likely to buy within a reasonable timeframe, aside from the things I've already preordered, are the Durarara!! 1/8 ALTAiR figures, the Yami Yuugi Kotobukiya figure, the Kuroneko Nendoroid from Oreimo, Mawaru Penguindrum Figma, Version 2 of the Zero (Megaman X) D-Arts, the rest of the Mother 2 figures I need, and the Kotobukiya Bishoujo Jaina Solo whenever she goes up for preorder.

I guess it's pretty long list... in a perfect world though I'll have most of these within a year.

Over the past year or so I've tried very hard to buy less figures, but when I do buy get larger/nicer ones. Back in my younger days I would spend way too much on trading figures and blind-box figures, and other small things that are hard to display. I'm trying to focus on bigger pieces now, but it's hard since smaller ones come out with more frequency/variety...

Looking at your bio, it looks like we have somewhat similar situations, at least, trying to balance adult life and collecting. XD My husband is pretty understanding. He is into this stuff too, though not to the borderline-crazy extent I am. I'm trying to focus my efforts on displaying things nicely and getting organized, since though we have a small apartment now, we are trying to pay off debts and start saving for a home. Someday maybe I'll have a museum-like room for these things... :3

LadyStarstorm (6 anos atrás) #1012187Wow, what a great set-up that person has!! Needs a lot of room though it seems... something unfortunately lacking in my apartment! I have a decent amount of stuff neatly displayed across a couple of bookshelves currently (I might take some pictures tonight to add to my page), but the problem with that is they are heavily prone to dust collection, so I'm looking for closed cabinets.

I can't really afford a huge project like the one in that link, nor do I have the space, but right now I'm thinking of the Ikea Detolf (www.ikea.com/us...) would be a decent start, as far as room & money go. ^^ Hoping to invest in one or two of them within the month... I've read decent-enough reviews about them for anime figures!

The more I've looked into it, the more I'm certain I'm going the Detolf route as well. The all glass display is better in my opinion. I think if I were displaying heavier statues or whatnot I'd feel better about having them in one of those Besta's, but they are quite beefy for the figures I'd be displaying.

You have quite the wishlist! Any of those figures in particular sit at the tippy top of your list?

LadyStarstorm (6 anos atrás) #1010800Aww thanks so much!! I'm pretty proud of it, but the downside to having so many is only a selection of stuff can be displayed at a time. I definitely need to invest in a couple display cases! Your collection is quite nice too ^o^

Thanks! I'm in the same boat, the majority of my figures are in closets :( Do you have any ideas on how you'll set up your display? I found this posting to be quite helpful and generated some decent ideas: www.figure.fm/p...

I need to find the space to do it though :)

LadyStarstorm (6 anos atrás) #1008791Yeah, Banpresto made all the recent figures. EarthBound/Mother merchandise is ridiculously expensive all the time. It's sad :( I've been trying to replace my US Box & Player's Guide for the game for years, but it just keeps going up and up! Wish I'd done it years ago, but at the time $150 seemed like too much! (Meanwhile, now it's up to around $300-400!)I know right! I remember back when Mother 3 was just released... all the new merchandise was so expensive! I've seen Mr Saturn phonestraps being sold for more than $50... no thanks! I'm glad my US box is in great shape, my original Mother box has a lot of wear, but it still looks okay, teh rest i've bought either new or mint. :]
I do want some Mother figures though, and those Banpresto figures are exactly like the ones in the manual, pretty awesome! Maybe i'll come across a fair deal.
